Why Choose Handcrafted over Mass Produced?

Here is my first ever Blog post!
First and foremost, you want handcrafted because you can see us as creators, you watch our videos we’re sharing, see snippets of us in the workshop and can witness the design come to life.
There is nothing better than being able to see exactly where your items come from - especially from an ethical standpoint - because let's be honest, there’s a lot of vulnerable humans out in the world, mass producing items for us and they’re living in squalor and are in the worst poverty. They’re working with chemicals without safety gear and for what? Us to have pretty things?
Not good!
Here, we are big on safety, because I really like my eyes and hands being attached - I also want to breathe for a little while longer!

Next - Uniqueness - In our workshop, everything is one of a kind and that is a 100% guarantee!
We do use tools, but no big mass producing machines, so there is always room for error, and sometimes those errors provide some beautiful finishes!
If you ever want something that’s listed but say, in silver or bigger/smaller, I will never advertise that it will be exact, as that isn’t what we’re about. I don’t want to be making the same thing over and over, and you definitely don’t wanna show up at some fancy outing, looking swish AF and noticing someone has the same ring/bracelet/necklace as you, right?!
No sirree!
The Artistic avenue!
Everything that we create has come from our designs, often the initial pattern has had hours poured into it - while sitting in front of the telly with a block of dark chockie, or pacing around the workshop with a coffee, bouncing ideas back and forth!
Jewellery that is created by us here in Christchurch aren’t just shiny objects, they’re real pieces of art - results of a hectic mind full of designs, textures and form - imagine if you could walk around wearing a tiny Picasso on your finger?
Well here we are! (don’t worry, I definitely don’t rate myself that highly, or want to die before you all want my treasures, but I’m sure you get my drift!).
Next - Supporting NZ made items really is good for the economy, you’re putting money back into our system, local businesses and the like.
You’re supporting the passions and dreams of designers and creators who live and breathe creating magic for you and ourselves…Because P.S I would wither away and die if I couldn’t create.
The last reason for now I think is intentionality and thoughtfulness.
If you’re buying from us for someone else (or yourself for that matter), you are making a massive effort to find something unique, something that fits someone’s style. Instead of picking from a list of something where there are 1000 other boring copies, you have chosen this specific ring to adorn the fingers of whoever is lucky enough to receive it.
Our pieces are full of texture, they’re bold, they’re modern and also architectural. These aren’t just run of the mill treasures, they’re one offs that NEED to be worn!
Your person will know how thoughtful you are to have gone hunting like a pirate and finding the treasure!
And let's be honest, you’re going to get all of the brownie points if you show up with one of our trinkets!
Love Jade xx
